Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

  Legacy 2004
  Legacy Archives

Each year, the annual report edition of Legacy magazine gives us the opportunity to reflect on the activities of the previous months and the achievements made possible through the support of steadfast donors to the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation. We are pleased to highlight some of the things Baptist has done because our donors decided to make a difference.

Legacy magazine is published by the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, for the benefactors, employees, medical staff and friends of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation.

Here are just a couple of stories in the 2004 edition of Legacy:

Donor Profile: Joseph H. & Ann L. Powell
Through a generous gift by Powell and his wife, Ann, the Ann L. and Joseph H. Powell Library is being established at Baptist Memphis. The 2,000-square-foot consumer library will contain books, periodicals, DVDs and other educational materials on a variety of health-related topics.

“We were looking for a way to give back,” Ann Powell said. “Baptist has been our life and has meant so much to our family. The library will serve a special need and provide useful information for a lot of people.”

Foundation Dollars at Work: This Patient is No Dummy
Earlier this year, Baptist Memorial Health Care, through funding by the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, purchased an innovative training device called SimMan®.

SimMan is a realistic, anatomically accurate mannequin that acts as a “patient simulator.” He can talk, breath, cough, moan, ask questions – and even complain. His heart beats and he has a pulse. SimMan can get sick and/or injured – realistically displaying anything from a stomach ailment to an asthma attack to a construction accident. He responds to medical treatment. He will get better if treated appropriately and worse if he is not.
